Directions to Our Practice

If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take: 

1. You could take Grant St west, then peel off left onto River Dr and follow the river, then turn right onto McClellan Blvd and then left so that you can get onto River St. Turn left when the road comes to a T at 11th and Hillcrest, then turn right onto Jersey Ridge Rd. Continue for almost a mile. After you pass the Family Credit Union on your left, we’re on the opposite corner of Jersey Ridge Rd and Lombard St, at 2305 Jersey Ridge Rd. There’s parking on the east side of the building.
2. Alternatively, you could head north on 18th St, then turn left onto Mississippi Blvd. Turn right on Kimberly Rd, then turn left onto Locust St. Turn right on Lorton Ave, then left onto Lombard St. We’re on the northeast corner of the intersection of Lombard St. and Jersey Ridge, so watch for us coming up on your right.

How Much Local History Do You Know?

Bettendorf’s story began in the mid-1800s when early European-American settlers formed the village of Lilienthal, named after a popular tavern and dance hall in the area. Around the same time, the neighboring village of Gilbert was established in 1858, named for Elias Gilbert who platted the land. These early communities, largely made up of German immigrants, were home to farmers, skilled tradespeople, and small business owners. Eventually, Lilienthal and Gilbert merged to form the town of Gilbert.

In the early 1900s, local leaders offered William and Joseph Bettendorf 70 acres of riverfront land to relocate their iron wagon manufacturing business from Davenport. The brothers accepted the offer, bringing significant economic development to the area. In 1903, with just 440 residents, the town officially incorporated and changed its name to Bettendorf in honor of the influential brothers.

Bettendorf’s growth continued through the 20th century. In the late 1940s, the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA) selected nearby Riverdale, now surrounded by Bettendorf, as the site for the world’s largest aluminum mill. The plant brought thousands of jobs and spurred population growth that continues today. More recently, Bettendorf made headlines as the birthplace of the modern-day riverboat casino industry in 1991. The city has since expanded its waterfront development, including the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center, enhancing its appeal as both a residential and business hub.
